Our Philosophy
Music is a vital part of the school's curriculum. Plato said, "I would teach children music, physics and philosophy, but most importantly music, for in the patterns of music and all the arts are the keys of learning." Each girl is fully involved in the Class Music lessons and they are also able to receive specialist tuition in piano, recorder, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, flute, violin, drums and voice.

Music Programme
In Grade 2, the girls learn the recorder, marimbas and violin. The class is divided into three groups and they spend one term on each instrument. In Grade 3, the class is divided into three groups for flute, clarinet and trumpet lessons. These lessons are for one term each.

Choirs
There are two choirs - Senior Choir for Grades 5 to 7 and Junior Choir for Grades 2 to 4. The choirs perform at many functions, festivals and public occasions.

Orchestra
This is a wonderful opportunity for the girls to make music together. Tours and workshops are organised and the girls sometimes combine with The Ridge School for concerts and tours.

Guitar and Jazz Bands
We have a guitar and a jazz band. The repertoire is varied and we believe that making music together is an enriching experience.

Marimbas and Djembe Drums
These groups are very popular and offer the girls the opportunity to play the marimbas, Orff instruments and djembe drums in a group situation, with the emphasis on having fun.
