Ut Possim
To the Best of my Ability
Houses
These are named
after three women of character, who, to the best of their ability, made
a difference to people's lives.
The houses are designed to build character and service for the School
and do much to raise the spirit.
Darling
The origin of the name stems from Grace Darling, the lighthouse heroine
who rescued shipwrecked sailors from the sea.
Keller
Helen Keller, who was blind, deaf and mute, overcame all adversity.
Nightingale
Named after
Florence Nightingale, the lady with the lamp, who helped wounded
soldiers in the Crimean War.
Extra-mural activities offer
the children a broad spectrum of activities. The girls must be selective
so as not to overload their afternoons. If a girl has the privilege of
being selected for a school team, this will obviously take precedence
over other activities.
The extra-mural timetable
varies from term to term according to the sports fixtures. During the
First and Third terms Swimming, ITA Tennis, Olympic Gym and Non-team
Club Swimming are offered. During
the Second term Netball,
Hockey, ITA Tennis coaching and Gym are offered.
A new sport, Kangoo Jumping,
has been introduced. This is an activity that strengthens core muscles
and enhances co-ordination.
Ballet, Music (instrumental
and marimbas), Speech and Drama, Art, Chess, Arts and Crafts and
Debating are offered each term.
